SOMIC Innovation Event in Nuremberg
Insights into tomorrow's packaging technology
Amerang/Nuremberg, 29 September 2025 – For the first time, SOMIC Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG from Amerang invited customers, suppliers and partners to an exclusive Innovation Event in Nuremberg. The event aimed to strengthen close communication with partners and to provide an exclusive insight into SOMIC's work. The focus was Research & Development and intensive exchange on future-oriented packaging technologies.
At various stands, colleagues from the engineering teams presented current projects and ideas. Guests were able to experience first-hand what SOMIC is passionately working on right now – from new concepts and technical solutions to exciting future projects. The direct dialogue was particularly appreciated: the developers were on hand to answer questions, explain background and provide fascinating insights into the development of innovative packaging solutions.
These insights were complemented by engaging keynotes on the technologies and trends of tomorrow. Two recognised experts enriched the programme with forward-looking impulses. Dr. Myléne Haslehner, a former member of SOMIC's R&D department, provided valuable insights into the development and future of Artificial Intelligence. She examined both the opportunities for industrial automation and the associated risks.
Futurist and author Oliver Leisse demonstrated how current developments in consumer behaviour and retail sectors are being changed by the use of AI. His analyses highlighted the potential as well as the challenges associated with the technology – in particular with regard to consumption trends and their impact on trade. The event was rounded off by an entertaining evening programme and culinary highlights.
Quality and innovation are essential for Research & Development at SOMIC. The company not only pursues solutions to current requirements but also proactively addresses the questions of the future in order to meet market change with pioneering, innovative solutions.
“Research & Development is the key for us to drive innovations forward. Direct exchange with our customers and partners enables us to better understand their needs and incorporate them into our developments,” explained Brigitte Stockenreiter, Senior Manager R&D Machine Technology at SOMIC.
The SOMIC Innovation Event also served as a preview of interpack 2026, where the company will present several exciting innovations. The event thus offered not only space for exchange and inspiration but also an initial glimpse of what customers can expect next year – innovative solutions that will further advance progress in packaging technology.
